Oats Jaggery Modak recipe

A different version of the traditional Indian sweet-Modak popularly used as an offering for the Elephant God-Ganesha.Made with oats and traditional ingredients like jaggery,coconut,ghee and dry fruits.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 Cups Rolled Oats powdered
  • 1/4 Cup Dry fruit mix ( walnut, cashew, almond) powdered
  • 1 Cup Jaggery powder
  • 1/4 Cup Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 2-3 Tbsp Milk warm

Instructions

  • Take ghee in a non-stick pan . Roast the Oats powder for 4-5 mins until light brown.
  • Add the dry fruit powder, dessicated coconut one by one and keep stirring for 1-2 mins.
  • Add the jaggery powder and mix very well stirring on slow flame continuously.
  • Add the cardamom powder for flavour.
  • Switch off the gas and let this mixture cool down.
  • Add little milk so as to form a soft dough.
  • Make modaks in the mould and remove them carefully.
  • Store them at room temperature for 1-2 days,refreigerate them after that.
