Oats Jaggery Modak recipe
A different version of the traditional Indian sweet-Modak popularly used as an offering for the Elephant God-Ganesha.Made with oats and traditional ingredients like jaggery,coconut,ghee and dry fruits.
Ingredients
- 1.5 Cups Rolled Oats powdered
- 1/4 Cup Dry fruit mix ( walnut, cashew, almond) powdered
- 1 Cup Jaggery powder
- 1/4 Cup Ghee
- 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
- 2-3 Tbsp Milk warm
Instructions
- Take ghee in a non-stick pan . Roast the Oats powder for 4-5 mins until light brown.
- Add the dry fruit powder, dessicated coconut one by one and keep stirring for 1-2 mins.
- Add the jaggery powder and mix very well stirring on slow flame continuously.
- Add the cardamom powder for flavour.
- Switch off the gas and let this mixture cool down.
- Add little milk so as to form a soft dough.
- Make modaks in the mould and remove them carefully.
- Store them at room temperature for 1-2 days,refreigerate them after that.
