Almond Halwa

Almond Halwa a traditional healthy treat packed with the goodness of healthy fats, protein, vitamin E,magnesium, zinc, potassium, manganese and antioxidants.

Ingredients

  • 100 gms Almonds (Badam) (Mamra variety)
  • 100 gms Ghee
  • 1 Tbsp Whole Wheat Flour
  • 150 ml Milk
  • 100 gms Sugar
  • 10 strands Saffron

Instructions

  • Wash almonds throughly with water to remove the impurites incase of any.
  • Soak the almonds in hot water for 4-5 hours or can soak overnight in normal water.
  • Drain the water in which almonds are soaked and by pressing the almonds peel the skin (It comes out easily).
  • Coarsely grind the almonds, if needed add few teaspoons of water while grinding . Do not grind the almonds to a fine paste.
  • Take a thick bottom pan and add little ghee, heat on medium flame and then add the coarsely ground almonds.
  • Keep stirring continously for about 10-15 mins till you get a slight aroma, then add the wheat flour and rest of the ghee.
  • Add the milk and keep stirring till it blends together. Keep cooking on low-medium flame till its nice dark brown colour.
  • Finally, add in the sugar and keep stirring till all the sugar melts.
  • Need to keep cooking and stirring the halwa till it starts to leave the sides of the pan and is thick in constistency.
  • Switch of the flame once its done and mix in the saffron, it will give nice colour and aroma to the halwa.
  • Garnish with few almond slivers and saffron and serve warm.
